Salutations to cherished readers and people who never open these emails alike.

I recently passed 200 subscribers on Substack. I wasn’t gonna make a big deal of it but I think for my own sake it’s important to practice gratitude and celebrate my accomplishments. When I started this blog, the goal was simply to do something I’d never done before — write and publish consistently. However, I’d be lying if I said there weren’t certain benchmarks I looked at as measures of external success,

200 subs in two years is pretty much what I envisioned as a “best case scenario” for The Daily Snob. I could lie and say the process of writing and engaging with music is all the reward I need, but the engagement, feedback and opportunities I’ve received from doing this makes it a lot easier.

That would not be possible without you. Thank you for subscribing, or just taking time to occasionally check in. I was planning to make all my paid content public for 48 hours as a token of appreciation, but it appears I can’t do that without an outsized amount of back-end work. Instead, I’ve made one of my previously-paywalled podcasts free in perpetuity.

I can get a little more “personal” with my paid content, and I think the podcast I’m about to unlock is an excellent example. It’s a scorching indictment of the hardcore scene post Gel-gate that was perhaps too salacious at the time but with a few months distance, may not get me sued and/or beaten up.
